There are many parks in Tbilisi, and they are very different. Somewhere the main thing is attractions, somewhere there is a skate park and street exercise equipment, somewhere there is a lake with boat rentals. Over the past few years, the mayor's office has renovated old parks and opened several new ones, so much of what was written about them before is already outdated.
We collected what is in the main parks of the city, by area and type. Before you go, check the opening hours of attractions and cable cars as they vary seasonally.
Which park to choose
- With small children:Mziuri, Vake, Vera park, Dedaena, new district parks.
Center and Vake
Vake Park
One of the largest and greenest parks in the center, on Chavchavadze Avenue. The first stage of reconstruction was completed in 2021, and at the same time the paths were made accessible to people with disabilities. The park has playgrounds, tennis courts, a basketball court, shady alleys, lawns and cafes.
The fountains and cascade on the central alley are currently under reconstruction; they promise to finish it by the spring of 2027.
From Vake Park there is a cable car to Turtle Lake. On December 23, 2025, it was closed for maintenance, and the resumption of work has not yet been officially announced. Check if it works before your trip.
Mziuri
The children's park between Vake and Saburtalo, after reconstruction, has been open since 2020. There are bike paths, fountains, an artificial pond, a skate park, a parkour area, a sports complex and several playgrounds. The park is adapted for people with disabilities. The new playground has a small climbing wall for children.
There is an old zoo nearby. The mayor's office moves it to the Tbilisi Sea, and promises to turn the vacated territory into a green zone connected to Mziuri.
Vera Park
A small park at the intersection of Kostava and Nikoladze streets, next to the Chess Palace. It was opened after reconstruction in October 2025. Now there are new children's and sports grounds, a dog walking area, paths, a fountain, a gazebo, an observation deck and a drinking water fountain.
Dedaena
The park near the Dry Bridge, next to the flea market, is open after reconstruction in 2021. Its main pride is a concrete skate park built to international standards. There is a children's playground, cafes and bars, and a small stage. The park is adapted for people with disabilities.
Rike Park
On the left bank of the Kura River, opposite the Old Town: you can come here on foot across the Peace Bridge or take the metro to the Avlabari station. The park is convenient for walking with children: there are huge chess sets with pieces about a meter high, a large piano and a singing fountain - in the warm months it works with light and music.
From Rike there is a cable car to the Narikala fortress. Payment - by Metromoney transport card. In strong winds the cable car is stopped.
Mtatsminda
The main amusement park of Tbilisi, on the mountain above the city. Free admission; For attractions, a park card is purchased at the entrance, and one card can be used by the entire group. There is a Ferris wheel, a roller coaster, a race track, a mini-train and playgrounds for kids.
You can go upstairs by cable car from Chonkadze Street - you need a park map for it, a regular transport is not suitable. Since October 2024, a cable car has also been running to Mtatsminda from Rustaveli Avenue. Out of season, some attractions are closed and opening hours vary, so it's best to check them in advance.
9 April Park and Mushtaidi Garden
9 April Park, the former Alexander Garden, is a quiet green place a stone's throw from Rustaveli Avenue. According to the guidebooks, there is a playground and a toilet there.
Mushtaidi Garden in Chugureti is one of the oldest parks in the city. There are attractions and playgrounds, as well as a children's railway built in 1935. Whether it is open now and on what schedule, check on site.
Lakes
Lake Lisi
Favorite place for running and walking in the north-west of the city. There is an illuminated circular path 3 km long around the lake. On the shore there are sports and children's playgrounds, a cafe, and a pine forest where it is convenient to spread a blanket. Here you can rent a bicycle, boat or pedal boat.
Turtle Lake
A small lake on the slope above Vake. There is a walking path around it, a mini-football field and an open-air cafe nearby. A zipline goes down from the lake to Vake Park, and there are downhill trails for cyclists. Next door is the Ethnographic Open Air Museum. You can go up by car or by cable car from Vake Park, if it works.
Tbilisi Sea
A large reservoir in the northeast of the city. It is safest to swim on an equipped city beach: there is a marked swimming area and lifeguards are on duty during the season. Swimming on the “wild” shores is dangerous, and in some places it is prohibited. Sun loungers and boats are available for rent on the beaches, and there are paid clubs with swimming pools and water sports. A new zoo is being built nearby: in August 2026, its first part was opened in test mode. The mayor's office, together with its partners, is planning a new recreation and entertainment area on the shore, but there are no deadlines yet.
Small Gldansko Lake
New recreation area in Gldani, opened in September 2025. Around the lake there are walking and cycling paths, children's and sports grounds, a beach volleyball court, sunshades and a pier from which it is convenient to watch birds. The territory is fully adapted for people with disabilities.

The largest park of this type in the capital is 25 hectares in Nadzaladevi, opened in October 2024. There are two lakes connected by a river, a mini-football stadium, a basketball court, a skate park, a dog park, a cafe and a media library.
Park in Samgori

It is managed by the National Wildlife Agency. It is better to take water and food with you.Digomi Forest Park is a section of natural forest in Didube. The mayor's office is buying private plots and promising to completely improve it, but for now it's just a forest without sites.
Picnic in the park: what to take
In Tbilisi parks, people sit, eat and play on the grass, but they don’t light a fire: we didn’t find any official barbecue areas in city parks, and city rules prohibit fire under trees and on dry grass. We discussed this in detail in the article about where to grill shashlik near Tbilisi. For a picnic in the city, the following set is enough:
- EVA HI KING mat - lightweight and does not absorb moisture from the grass. Or inflatable mat HI KING.
- HI KING folding chair with backrest or small folding chair - for those who find it uncomfortable to sit on the ground.
- Akay picnic basket, 26 l and picnic set for 6 people with dishes and cutlery.
- Thermos ARDESTO, 1 l with hot tea - for example, with premium grade Georgian tea.
- Kakheti churchkhela with walnuts and prune pastila - sweet that does not melt in the bag.
- Power bank HOCO J101, 10,000 mAh - so that the phone does not die at the end of the day in the park.
- Light raincoat - in case the weather turns bad.
If you want to go out on the water not in a rental boat, but on your own board, check out Bestway Kahawai SUP board. Where and when you can swim on SUP, check with the local administration.
If the product is in stock, we will deliver it in Tbilisi in 2 hours - you can order it in the morning and be in the park in the afternoon.
